Howard Hauben, President, H2 Events

H2 Events was founded in 2000 by Howard Hauben, 52, who served as head of the Miller Freeman Jewelry Group, and Sr. VP of Miller Freeman, Inc. between 1990 and 2000. Prior to that, Hauben served in editorial, editorial management, sales and sales management roles between 1977 and 1990, with his first post as an editorial trainee on National Jeweler Magazine.

At Miller Freeman, Hauben created and founded the successful Couture Collection show, as well as headed a team that rebuilt the JA New York Shows upon their acquisition from Blenheim Holdings in 1996. Hauben also served on Miller Freeman's corporate Board of Directors, and headed the company's Variety & General Merchandise Division and its 9 Shows; its Gift Division; all Jewelry Media and show operations; and oversaw Miller Freeman's Internet Strategy & Development on a general corporate level. In all, he was responsible for more than 40 business operations on three continents, including 160 staff members running shows, magazines, web sites and related media vehicles.

Hauben departed Miller Freeman upon its sale in 2000 to VNU of the Netherlands, and immediately founded and created the acclaimed Centurion Tucson Show, now in its fourth year.

In 2004, the leaders of the California Jewelers Association and H2 Events formed an agreement to Bring Back The Era of Excellence of the Pacific Jewelry Show with the August 2005 introduction of the West Coast Jewelry Show (WCJS), now entering its 3rd year. Its predecessor The Pacific Jewelry Show was successful in California for some 40 years.

Hauben is a member of the 24 Karat Club of Southern California; The 24 Karat Club of the City of New York; a member of the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) League of Honor and GIA Symposium 2006 Industry Advisory Board; member of the Executive Committee of the National Conference for Community & Justice (NCCJ) Diamond & Jewelry Industry Division; recipient of the 1996 NCCJ Humanitarian Award; a former Board of Directors Member of Polygon. He also charitably supports various industry causes and groups including Jewelers For Children (JFC); the  American Gem Society (AGS); Jewelers Vigilance Committee (JVC); GIA; Jewelers Security Alliance (JSA) and others.

H2 Events is based in Merrick, New York.
